I’m tearing my hair out! I spend hours and hours writing my blogs only to get minimal or no views, and it’s so time-consuming! Is Blogging Worth the Time?
I use British English in my writing. This is because I live in Britain. British spelling differs from the USA’s, which causes comments about my spelling mistakes. I wonder if blogging is worth my time.
Blogging has been part of my life for a long time. I have had my WordPress blog for many years. I tried other platforms but came back to WordPress. During that time, I changed the domain name twice. What I didn’t know is that by doing that, I put my website back to square one on the SEO scale. Ignorance is not bliss!
The blogs I write are primarily educational-based. I cover health, wellness, true crime and Christian spirituality. I weave in stories of my personal journey between the information I share. My motive for doing that is to give the reader value. Not only do I blog, but I also post videos and write books.
Most of my blogs on Medium and my website are material from my books. When I write books, I blog first and then compile my blogs into books. But is blogging worth the Time?
What am I trying to achieve with blogging?
I am attempting to achieve several things:
- Life is tough- I want to help people who need to know how to maintain well-being and happiness.
- I want to give my life meaning, purpose, and joy by sharing what I have learned, my expertise, and what I have experienced. I want to pass on something of myself to others, even after my death.
- To make some money- to make ends meet- nothing extravagant.
I Have Recently Realised Something.
I went to mass the other day, and something came to mind during the service. I realised that all of my post-graduate studies, my interests and several careers that I had right from when I left school have one thing in common-
They all deal with human behaviour.
All of them address human behaviour in varying ways. Why did I not see that before? This revelation has helped me immensely. I can now see the ‘big’ picture of my life instead of tiny unrelated fragments. I
But now, I can see everything I do, feel, and experience through a holistic lens.
Getting back to blogging. I think my interest in human behaviour underpins my writing. So, I’m authentic in what I do and why. But I still need to solve the problem of my viewership. So, Is Blogging Worth the Time?
The Perils of Owning a Website
I have spent A LOT of money upgrading my main W4W website to state-of-the-art web hosting to get my blogs seen and read.
Today, I consulted Google Analytics, and I now …
I get 50% fewer views on the all-singing, all-dancing ‘Hostinger’ than I did with just plain old Blue Host!?
I changed to Hostinger six months ago, and now, I average only seven views daily. I am having a heart attack, for sure…My piggy bank is not thanking you for nothing, Hostinger.

Again, that brings me back to why I should waste my time blogging. Is Blogging Worth the Time?
The Dyslexic Writer
Don’t get me wrong; I love to writing- I do– it is integral to my daily life.
I didn’t start writing seriously until my mid-50s when I was assessed for dyslexia. The educational psychologist who tested me over two days was studied. she said ,
‘How on earth have you got this far in life with this level of dyslexia?’- then-
I was stunned!?
But that was 20 years ago. Since then, I have learnt the skills, tips, and tricks to get by in the writing department. And I must humbly say—I can now turn out a pretty decent piece of work.
Since being assessed for dyslexia, I have gone to University and earned a Master’s degree. Since then, I have studied many other subjects and earned various certificates.
Understanding how my dyslexia works and working with it instead of against it has been life-changing for me. I have learned to love writing – but no one reads my work.
What’s Next?
Who knows! I don’t know-… I have spent over 20 years learning to write and spent most of my waking house that effort—with little reward. I’ve decided to spend more time on my Christian ministry Channel, which gets a lot of traffic. But one thing I do know is that I’m on the verge of giving up regular blogging.
I might concentrate on videos and book writing, which appear more popular than blogs. Having said that, are many of my blogs on Medium and my website here are material from my books—go figure-
Should I keep on, keeping on, Is Blogging Worth the Time?
- I don’t want to waste my time
- I am fed up with not seeing results
- I can use hours and hours of writing doing other pleasurable things- or stacking the local supermarket shelves to make ends meet?
