Since having my first and last COVID-19 vaccination, I’ve changed things dramatically in my health.
After the jab, I constantly felt weak and tired. I lost my appetite, and I lost a lot of weight.
I also had an itchy rash on the upper part of my body that no number of creams could get rid of. The doctor told me I had a severe reaction to the jab.
I never had another jab- one was enough!
Am I Just Getting Old?
It took me over 12 months to heal the itchy rash.
The problem is that it also left me with terrible shooting nerve pains in my legs, arms, hips and shoulders. This has stopped me from working at a pace I am accustomed to.
I stopped doing my daily cardio and weights workout because it was far too painful. I became a couch potato and wasn’t happy! I told myself I must do something about it!
So, I researched the symptoms and found other people with nerve damage due to the jab. So I know I wasn’t alone, which confirmed my suspicions of the jab being the cause.
Ordinary painkillers did not touch the pain, so I chose something more potent. I’m not a medication person and have never been. Unfortunately, long-term strong painkillers can mess with one’s kidneys and liver, and I undoubtedly didn’t want to go that route.
Some friends of mine said I shouldn’t blame the jab. They said that because now I’m 68, I should expect aches and pains and things to go wrong with my body. My doctor repeated this mantra about getting old. But I could not accept the getting old excuse because that is what it was to me- an excuse. So, I decided I didn’t want to live the rest of my life with this painful condition. I wanted to be well, and reaching that goal was up to me.
I have always been a fan of holistic health. Holistic health is about caring for our minds, body and spirit. Holistic health is maintained through good eating, a good mindset, and exercising regularly. It’s also about a firm, active faith in God.
My faith has kept me going. The Bible tells me that I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me, and as I appropriate that truth, I find that to be so. Philippians 4:13 NKJV
I got irate when my mind agreed with my friends and doctor. I could hear their words in my mind-’You’re getting old’.
I answered my mind back- “No, I’m not going to be living like this anymore; I’ve had enough!
I knew I needed to change my mindset.
After all, if, by God’s grace, I lived for another 20 to 30 years, there’s NO WAY I want to live with this pain!
So, to change my mindset, I said out loud- “this pain is not mine- it does not belong to me!” Importantly, I prayed. I asked God through Christ to help me understand what to do and heal my nervous system.
I have been researching personal development for over 30 years. So I know that changing one’s mindset can be challenging. But with perseverance, you can do it. You can change your mindset if you are unhappy with what you have or who you are.
My Mind Workout
If I wanted to change my mindset, I must first change what I put into my mind. I was educated enough to realise I had the Power Within if I unlocked it. I knew that I could be transforming my life by changing my mindset.
As a believer, I knew that my mindset was a problem-
“take every thought captive to obey Christ” .2 Corinthians 10:3–5
I got the idea to listen to many audiobooks as I could. I found lots of free books on YouTube. Learning and understanding helped me to change my mindset.
I also prayed while listening to the audiobooks for God to help and heal me.
I soaked up the audiobooks for several months and decided to start working out again.
My Body Workout
The pains in my legs were, at times, so severe that I didn’t know what to do with myself. So, I prayed and asked God for healing. But I also needed to take responsibility for my holistic health.
When we take responsibility for our health, we work ‘with’ God and not against the divine healing process.
Nerve pain is there because the nerves are damaged in some way. Or the connection between my brain and nerves isn’t syncing. Whatever, which one was the cause, I had to do something. I knew I had to increase my blood circulation and improve my diet to help my nerves to heal.
I never do anything by halves, so I set myself defiantly against the pain and set up a workout program.
Like anything new, getting started and being consistent has taken a lot of mental effort. My legs felt like lead as I dragged them around.
But, by the end of the first week, the pain in my legs, arms and hips subsided; I no longer needed painkillers during the day.
My Diet Workout
Into the second week, I found that I could sleep all night without being aggravated awake by intense pain.
An important thing to remember is that the myelin sheath protects the nerves themselves. This sheath is fed solely with vitamin B12 to stay healthy.
So, I wondered whether I was not getting enough vitamin B12; in my diet. So I reviewed and changed my diet.
I discovered that my vitamin B12 reserves were low. Symptoms of vitamin B12 deficiency are weakness and tingling in the arms and fingers, as well as leg and hip pain. I displayed all these symptoms.
So, I purchased vitamin B12 drops. Liquid drops are more readily absorbed into the intestines than tablets.
I would get leg muscle cramps also, so I looked up the effects of magnesium and potassium on the body—a lack of these essential minerals results in muscle cramps.
Taking Responsibility for My Health.
With the change in exercise and diet within a month, I began to feel much better. My legs didn’t feel so heavy and painful anymore.
From now on, if I keep my mindset positive, I will gain strength in every way.
Set Your Health Goals
Set health goals because you need and want to be healthy. If you want good health, you must do something to achieve that goal. If you do nothing, you will achieve nothing.
Changing your mindset isn’t easy, but you can persevere. You can change your mindset if you are unhappy with what you have or who you are.
